Gatorade’s poetic new film follows one man’s long road back from a breakup

Isla agency’s three-minute spot connects exercise and mental health with evocative storytelling

Dealing with a devastating breakup? You should try hitting the bottle ... of Gatorade.

That’s the message from the sports drink brand in a cinematic three-minute film from Isla agency for Latin America connecting sport and exercise to mental health. While Gatorade typically focuses on being physically restorative, this work explores how exercise itself can be mentally so—instilling confidence, restoring self-esteem and making people more vital and happier.

Gatorade, of course, plays a role by providing the hydration and energy to work out.


The spot was directed by Nicolás Pérez Veiga, and produced by Primo Buenos Aires.

“Together with our regional team, we have worked for the last three years in connecting the brand to new audiences,” Rodrigo Grau and Ariel Serkin, chief creative officers at Isla, said in a statement. “This short film tells the story of what happens when playing sports intervenes in human everyday stories.”

“No matter which sport you play, what kind of training you do or your fitness level, Gatorade exists to provide you with complete hydration, with electrolytes and energy, to perform better and reach your potential,” said Martin Watson, hydration marketing senior director at Gatorade.
